Baby 8 & 9: Accidents

"No peeking!" Alex said as he led his wife onto the beach. "Okay, now." He pulled a bouquet of red roses from behind his back and handed them to her. "Alex! They're beautiful! Thank you!"

She ran her fingers through his hair as they kissed. "I wanted to show you that I loved you," he mumbled against her lips. She pulled back and smiled at him. "You did a good job. I love you too," she ran her fingers through his hair again, "and I love your new hair cut!" He gave her a silly grin and she kissed him again. She took his hand and began leading him back to the house as she saw a figure running up to them from up the hill.

Salline ran an intercepted the female. She extended a hand, and the woman took it. "Hi. I'm Charmain. I heard about you from the other challenge mothers. I'm a challenge mother too," Charmain said. Salline eyed Alex over her shoulder and smiled. "Yes, I'm Salline. Currently have baby seven!" Charmain nodded. "So I was wondering if you wanted to meet downtown tonight at the bar with me. We could hang out." "I'd love to go!" Salline exclaimed. "Great!" Charmain squealed as she turned and ran back out of visibility. Salline turned toward her husband.

"It is okay if I go with her, right?" she asked. "Of course! You need some 'girl time.'" He smiled and wrapped her in his arms. "Te amo, mi amor." I love you, my love. Her stomach gained butterflies, and she squeezed him. "I love youuuu more," she teased. "No I love you more." He smiled and took her hand as they walked back to their home together.

Once they were home, they threw Landon a birthday party. He was going to age up later that day anyways. He was sad that he never got another day with Alyssa, and that he never got to go to prom, but he was glad he would be moving out soon. Salline, however, wasn't so glad Landon was aging up. She didn't want another baby to leave her so quickly like Jay had, but she figured one had to leave so they could bring in more.

Salline hugged her son longer than he could ever imagine. He thought it would never end, until finally she pulled back with watery eyes. "I'm going to miss you, Landon. Don't forget to call...everyday!" He smiled at her. "I wont, Mama." Then he turned and left the household.

Allie sat by herself in the sand, not paying any attention to her siblings around her. Her mind was somewhere else. Or rather, some person else. She was thinking about Trenton. What would he think of her tomorrow? Would he ditch her? Would he ask her to be his girlfriend? She sighed and stood up. "Come on, Girls. Let's go inside. It's getting too late." "Okay! Let me put a few last touches," they both said. Allie left them and went in for dinner.

At the bar, Salline and Charmain were having a nice time. She was talking about her home, and her children. It made Salline interested; she never knew someone else loved their children as much as they both seemed to. She gave her occasional smiles.

***

Salline decided to buy them each a "Neon Green" drink. Salline loved it. It made her mouth dumb, but it was so sweet and sour all at the same time. It was like it was attacking her taste buds in a whole new, and enjoyable, way.

After a few drinks, Salline was a little over tipsy. She got on the tables and started dancing, despite Charmain's pleas to get down. Salline's head was spinning, and it was foggy. She wasn't quite sure what she was doing, and that's when he walked up to her.

"Hey, how about you and me go back to my place?" he asked. The drunken Salline didn't recognize what he was truly asking. "Yeah! Take me to your car. I forgot where mine was!" she snorted and laughed.

When Salline opened her eyes, she noticed the wallpaper was orange. The bed was orange. She was confused, and she had the worst headache of her life. What happened last night? She remembered being with Charmain and having a blast, then everything was fuzzy from there. Wait.. there was drinking. "Mornin', Beautiful," a deep voice said. Salline's eyes widened and she turned onto her side to see. "Who.. Who're you?" she asked. "Me? Oh you don't need to know my name. Just keep me in mind," he said annoyingly. Salline jumped from the bed, and glared at him. "What did we do?!" He didn't answer, he only raised a brow. Salline ran from the house and got into her car. The tires screeched as she drove home. What would she tell Alex? Wait. How did she know they didn't do anything? Maybe it was a joke. She didn't want to worry Alex with this because she honestly didn't know what happened herself.

Alex was waiting in the living room when Salline finally got home. The children had just left for school, and the house was peaceful. Alan and Zander were happily sleeping in their cribs. "Why are you still in your dress?" he smiled at her, completely oblivious to Salline's night with the man from the bar. "Did you sleep over at Charmain's?" Salline nodded and went upstairs. She got a pain killer for her headache and Alex walked in.

Alex was holding an odd little doll. It was a burnt yellow, with blue sleeves, green hands, and red spots. It also appeared to have bicycle peddles for feet, or so it reminded her of it. "Umm. What is that?" Salline said. Alex pulled a card out of his back pocket. "Says it's from the Loryans.. or something. It's for Zander." Alex shrugged, turned, and put it in Zander's crib.

Alex hovered over the crib for a moment before heading downstairs. Salline looked over her shoulder at her baby boy. She picked him up and gazed at his quality 'Trish' eyes. Almost all of Salline's children were born with that color eyes, and she was almost certain he was too. A tear dripped to the floor. She cuddled her baby close. "What have I done?" she asked. She pulled back and looked at him again. "You'll always love me, right?" Zander touched her face. The corner's of the baby's mouth turned into a smile and Salline pulled him closer to her carefully. "I love you, Zander." She put him back in his crib and went downstairs to start a load of clothes. They needed to be done so bad; the house was beginning to be over-loaded by them.

Salline taught Alan how to talk, and then brought him in to the bathtub. She washed him squeaky clean before getting him out and changing his clothes. It wasn't soon after that she began feeling nauseous. She swallowed hard. Maybe it's just something I ate....But I didn't eat anything yet...Okay, it's because I didn't eat.

She decided to go on a stroll with Alan to help clear her head. Could she really be pregnant? And by a man she never knew? No. Of course not. But then again..

A couple minutes into their walk, and the signs of an early pregnancy started showing. Salline refused to believe that she could be pregnant by this man she knew for only a few hours. But if I were pregnant, that would help the challenge... Ugh. Stop thinking like that! This is a bad thing! Salline returned home soon after that to help Allie get ready for her prom.

Allie chose a plain dress. It was beautiful though, so Salline let her wear it. They scrunched Allie's hair and gave it nice waves. The end result was utterly stunning! Allie was ready for this prom. She hoped her date would come and wouldn't ditch her. But maybe she could find someone else if he did; even though she truly liked Trenton.

A little while later, their limo arrived and Allie eagerly climbed in. She was ready. She could do this. Right?

Inside the dance, Allie believed she was impressing Trention with her awesome Chicken Dance. She thought it was going good. He constantly got her punch, and made sure she had a good time. While she was trying to impress him, he was beginning to impress her. Almost halfway through the dance, Allie began wondering if she had fallen for Trenton. They danced together, and it was like a magnetic connection. Everyone even tried to dance like they were!

When Allie returned home, Salline was finishing up giving Jayde a bedtime story. Salline kissed her precious daughter's head and got up from her bunk slowly. She went to ask Allie about her night. Allie described the prom in great detail, and never left a part out about Trenton. Ah, young love. Salline gave her a smile, hugged her, and headed off to bed. Alex was already asleep.

Salline had to get up early, however. She felt sick again, and couldn't swallow it down. She went into the kitchen and got her some cereal and headed back to bed. Surely, if she was sick, rest would make her feel better. Right?

***

Allie smiled at her and Trenton's picture from the prom. She put it on her bedside table for safe-keeping. That way it would be the first thing she saw in the morning. She sighed and put on her pajamas. Midnight. Welcome Friday morning, because next is Saturday. She crawled into her cozy bed and slept peacefully.

Salline felt nauseous again at 5 am the next morning. She sleepily got up out of her bed, and got a baby bump! She was happy to be pregnant; that meant she wasn't sick or had a disease. But she wasn't happy about who the father was. How would she tell Alex that she was pregnant with another man's baby?

 Micah-Lee--teen
After Salline put some clothes in the hamper, she noticed the girls were up. They started to age up, and Salline luckily got in the room before she missed it. They were beautiful teenagers. She was sad that they didn't get to throw a party.

Jayde-Ann Trish--Teen
Salline did notice that the girls' wings got a little darker. Jayde's got a darker pink, almost purple, the same as her eyes. Micah's showed off the truth Trish color for eyes on her wings. They matched her Trish eyes perfectly, and you could finally tell that it wasn't a light blue. Salline smiled. They truly were gorgeous girls. Salline decided to age up all of her children today, deciding it was the perfect day. Besides, it'd be easier to explain to them how 'Mommy got pregnant without Daddy' if they were older.

 Allie Trish--Young Adult

Allie was excited to be out on her own, doing things her way. She hugged her parents and told them she loved them. "You all grow up too fast," Salline mumbled against Allie's shoulder. Allie laughed. "This isn't the last time you'll see me, Mama," she said before leaving the household.

 Alan Trish--child
Zander Trish--toddler

With Zander as a toddler, Salline could see his resemblance to Alex. Zander also had Alex's eye color. That was a change, but for the better probably. Salline got his 'special toy' and gave it to him. He seemed to like it a lot. But then Alex came out. He looked angry at something.

***

Alex's eyes were narrowed and he was talking to someone. "Do you know anything about this?" he asked in a harsh tone. "About what?" "Don't play dumb, Salline. There's a guy on the phone asking me if you have your baby bump yet." Salline's mouth gaped open in surprise. "Alex.. I.." Alex hung up the phone and glared at her. "The night at the bar. We were drinking, and-" she tried to plead but was cut off. "I don't want to hear it. I thought we agreed." "We did. I didn't-" "-And if you don't want to be with me fully, or need another man in your life, then I.. Then I don't want to be with you anymore!" he exclaimed. He turned and stormed off.

Salline hung her head in her hands and cried as he walked away. I'm pregnant. Shouldn't I be happy? That man. What was his name? I need to find him.. Teach him a lesson. Or something. Why me? Salline sighed and wiped her tears from her face. She would have fun. She needed to have fun. "Come on, Kids. Get out here!"

Salline had to stick to the pool for the safety of her baby, but she watched her children play in the water slide. She smiled as they laughed happily and had a great time. The best in a while. Now if only she felt that way. She knew she would soon have to clue them in on why she and Alex broke up, and why her stomach was getting bigger so quickly.

A few hours later, Salline decided to teach Jayde how to drive. About 3 hours later, Salline and Jayde were still alive and well. Jayde actually did pretty well. She was cautious, despite a few screeches of the brakes. She was easy to teach, and learned quickly.

Since Alex was at whose else's house, Salline agreed to let Alan sleep in her bed. It was better than to have an empty space beside her, though. She read him a story as he went to sleep, and then followed his example.

The next morning, the kids were all home watching television since it was Saturday. Finally, a day she could squeeze and snuggle her children. She smiled as she began making them all peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Maybe today she could tell them why Alex wasn't home too.

They ate in silence. Perhaps the girls already knew, or were waiting for Salline to tell them. Either way, Salline could only think of a number of ways to tell them the heartbreaking news. She swallowed hard, and waited for Alan to sit at the table with his plate. "I'm calling a family meeting after lunch," she said and rose from her chair. She gathered her dish and took it to the kitchen. She washed it, and waited in the livingroom.

Salline waited until everyone was settled to begin. "Okay," she began, but smiled as Zander settled against her. She cleared her throat and tried again, "Okay, so as you all know, your father isn't home." The girls snorted. "And probably won't be for a while. Do you know why?" The kids shook their heads. "Well.. We broke up. Because when Mommy went out to the party with Charmain, she got a little crazy. The baby in Mommy's belly is not Alex's." The girls gasped, Zander seemed oblivious, and Alan didn't seem to care.  "Mom, why?" Jayde asked confidently. "Well, Girls. To be honest, I don't know him." It sounds worse than it is, she thought guiltily. "I was drunk, and I don't even remember it. The only thing I remember is going with Charmain, and waking up next to him. I didn't even know if we had done anything." Salline shrank in the presence of her children, feeling filthy. Micah snorted. "Did you tell him that?" "He didn't let me," Salline mumbled. "Then he's a jerk. You don't need him if that's how he's going to act. You don't need a boy; you need a man," Micah said. Jayde smiled and nodded, agreeing with her sister. Salline felt the sting of salty tears down her cheeks. Her daughters were so wise and smart, unlike her. She pulled them close and hugged them.

Later that day, while Salline made dinner, Alan played peek-a-boo! with Zander. It was so cute!

***

After dinner, Salline walked in her room expecting a good night's sleep; only one problem: Alex was there! He seemed calmer now, though. "What are you doing here?" she accused. "Just because we're broke up doesn't mean I don't live here. Didn't I tell you not to get cocky?" he shot back. "No," she said, eyes narrowing. "Well, I should have," he said. "Alex, we need to talk-," she tried but was cut off. "No," he pushed passed her and looked over his shoulder, "I'm sleeping on the couch." Salline stared off at nothing. This was going to be harder than she thought. Minutes later, she felt alone, and insecure.

As she read Zander to sleep, she couldn't help but want to snuggle him. She knew he needed sleep, but she needed comfort. He seemed to understand her, even if he really didn't. Once he fell asleep, she couldn't resist taking him out and carrying him down to sleep in her bed.

Alex walked in the room casually. His heart throbbed as he picked up his son and looked at his Ex-Wife. He loved her more than anyone could tell, and he hurt her by going against him to be with another man. He wanted to snuggle up against her, just watching her, but he didn't know if things could ever be the same. He didn't know that she didn't even know in the beginning, though. He sighed and took his son back to his crib for the night. He kissed the top of his head. "Goodnight, Baby Boy."

"Sis, we have to do something about this," Micah confirmed. Jayde nodded. "I know. I hate seeing Mom like this. She loves him." "Yeah, Zander slept in Mom's bed until Alex got him out, and you know Mom wouldn't usually do that." "I think Dad still loves her. He stared at her for a while." "He's not our dad, Jayde," Micah snorted. Jayde rolled her eyes, and they both went to sleep.

Alex was the last to fall asleep. He felt as though he was living in a nightmare, and Salline was the villain of it all. No, better yet, the man agreed to it all was the villain. Alex vowed to find that jerk, and teach him a lesson.

***

When Salline woke up, she noticed Alex's side was empty. He must have moved Zander to the crib and slept on the couch. She sighed and began making up the bed before moving onto putting in a load of clothes and beginning to make breakfast, as she did, however, labor struck.

Nobody was up, so she couldn't drive to the hospital. Instead, she stayed home. Another home birth. She would have called for an ambulance, but couldn't seem to grasp the phone because of the contractions.
