Baby 25: Wake Up Call

"I don't like it," Alex said bluntly, staring at his hair.
"It looks fine! Makes you look younger," I told him.
"I don't need to look younger, and neither do you," he said, running his eyes over me.
I scoffed. "I may be a mother of twenty-four, but I am certainly not old! Besides, I had to take care of your grays. So what do you think of mine?"

He turned around to get a better look. "You don't want my opinion." I sighed. Thanks for the confidence boost!

I called just about anyone I knew to set up a very last minute birthday party for my kids. I haven't done one in a while, so I figured I might as well. I felt as if I'd been ignoring my children, and this was my way of hopefully making it better.

Then a very sleepy and feisty Accalia started fussing.

So I put her down for a very long nap with a kiss goodnight. This was always a tough time for me, knowing that this would be the last day of her toddlerhood. I sighed and watched as her small head hit the pillow before turning on the small nightlight in the corner and leaving the room.

I decided to have some mother-daughter time with the teens, seeing as it was their last day in the house. :'(

~~

The first of many birthdays was Accalia's!

Next, Ryse's.

And now Ria's.

The next was for Elena, now a young adult.

Next to last we have Lauren.

And lastly there was Brianne, who marked the end of the birthdays. Seeing as it was their last birthday in the house, the trio said their goodbyes and moved out.

I was getting ready to pull out to continue the challenge when I heard a few yells come from the house. It was Alex, oddly enough. He ran up to the car and I rolled my window down.
"Where are you going?" he asked.
"The hospital," I said.
"Erm. How about you park the car?"
"I guess."

So eventually I agreed to watch the stars with him. Unfortunately the grass was full of dew!

I was about to get up and go into the house when his hand fell onto mine. I smiled at him.
"I had a reason for asking you not to go," he said.
"Which was?"
"I want to be the next challenge father."
"But Alex-"
"I know we've had our ups and downs, and you're supposed to have all different fathers, but I love you, and seeing all of our children growing up as a result of you and someone else just.. I miss you and me."
Aw! So sweet! I leaned in and kissed him lightly. "Okay. You win, Loverboy."
